The above was due to the high price of compact disc manufacturing in the 80s ($2.50 for a product that sold for $20, so one eighth the price). This led record companies to release CD versions of 2 disc sets as 1CD even if it didn't fit. Iron Maiden's "Live After Death" is probably the most famous metal example. There are later reprints of Beast From The East that are 2CD sets with every song, for example Dokken - Beast From The East
